Humane Vitae (“Of Human Life”)

Posted on June 28, 2018 in: Parish

Humane Vitae (“Of Human Life”) is the papal encyclical of Blessed Paul VI released on July 25, 1968, which provides a beautiful and coherent teaching about God’s plan for married love and the transmission of human life.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the issuance of this document and during this anniversary year, all Catholics are urged to read the document and grasp its meaning and purpose and to rediscover the splendor of the matrimonial call to be open to human life.

The following resources will assist all parishes to celebrate 50 years of the Church’s Wisdom contained in Humanae Vitae:

For Pope Francis, Archbishop Carlson, and all bishops, priests and

deacons, that the Holy Spirit will continue to guide all those who preach the gospel to reaffirm the Church’s teaching regarding the transmission of human life, let us pray to the Lord….

For those in positions of authority in civil governments, that they

will enact laws that uphold the dignity and sanctity of marriage and the value of human life, let us pray to the Lord….

For all married couples, for a greater understanding that part of

their matrimonial call includes cooperation with the creative power of God to bring new life into existence and welcome children as a true gift from God, let us pray to the Lord….

For all Christian couples and young men and young women who

are preparing themselves for a life of Christian marriage as a family, that they, like Mary and Joseph, will say “yes” to all that God asks of them, let us pray to the Lord….

For all Christian couples who face difficulty or challenge in their

marriage and families, that God will comfort them in their suffering and sustain them, let us pray to the Lord….

That Christ who was born into a human family may give all

Christian families the grace they need to become a “little Church,” let us pray to the Lord….
