Lesa Leopold

Principal

Mrs. Lesa Leopold is the Principal of St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Grade School. Mrs. Leopold has been teaching for 14 years and has been at St. Ignatius for 7 of those years. In addition to her administrative duties, this year Mrs. Leopold is teaching Math to the 7th/8th grade class, and Science to the 7th/8th grade students and the 5th/6th grade class. Mrs. Leopold hails from North Carolina and earned her Bachelor’s Degree at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem. She taught in Tulsa, Oklahoma for a while and then earned her Master’s Degree in Biology at the University of Tulsa. Following that she attended Clemson University in South Carolina and earned a PhD in Entomology (the study of insects). Mrs. Leopold lives in Warrenton with her husband, Vincent, who is an Environmental Scientist at Monsanto, and her son, Daniel, who is a junior at St. Francis Borgia High School, in Washington, Missouri. Her daughter, Rose, attends college at the University of Missouri, in St Louis. Mrs. Leopold, whose favorite color is pink, says she enjoys camping with her family, reading, working with her flowers, and cooking, claiming that she finds baking to be very relaxing. Mrs. Leopold said that she loves teaching Science, and the best part of her job is being with the wonderful students at St. Ignatius School. She said, “I love seeing the student’s excitement when they master or discover something new.”

 

Sandy Walls

School Secretary

Mrs. Sandy Walls is the St. Ignatius School Secretary, as well as the volunteer Librarian. Mrs. Walls does a little bit of everything, and anything that is needed to keep St. Ignatius School running smoothly. Mrs. Walls said she loves her job, and especially likes interacting with the students and teachers. She grew up in Florissant, Missouri, and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Florissant. Mrs. Walls currently lives in Marthasville with her husband, and said her favorite thing is the world is spending time with her family.

 

Emily Weber

Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten

Mrs. Emily Weber is the Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten teacher. She is in her 20th year of teaching and has devoted all of that time to the students of St. Ignatius Catholic Grade School. Mrs. Weber grew up in Washington, Missouri, and attended St. Francis Borgia Catholic School. After high school she went to Central Methodist University at East Central College in Union, Missouri, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Currently, Mrs. Weber lives with her husband Randy and their 3 children, Nicholas, Alex and Kendall in Washington, Missouri. According to Mrs. Weber her favorite thing in the world is to spend time with her children and read. But if you ask her about teaching, she’ll tell you this, “I love all of the firsts my students have, and seeing their reactions when they accomplish things, like reading and writing and counting to 100. I am so proud of my students and love that I played a part in their accomplishments.”

 

Katie Haskins

1st and 2nd grade

Ms. Katie Haskins is the 1st and 2nd grade teacher at Saint Ignatius of Loyola Catholic School. The 2017/2018 school year is her first year teaching here, but she is very familiar with St. Ignatius. Ms. Haskins graduated from Saint Ignatius School several years ago, and has now returned to share her knowledge with the next generation. She graduated from St. Francis Borgia High School and then went on to study at East Central Community College where she got an Associate of General Studies. She continued her education at Missouri Baptist University where she got a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She is currently working on a Master’s Degree in Administration at William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri. Ms. Haskins is one of six children and has four brothers and a sister. She is engaged to Zach Hoffman, with a wedding planned for June 2018. Ms. Haskins says she loves working with children, but when she is not doing that she may be found cycling or kayaking. If you don’t see her there, check Los Cabos, it’s her favorite place to eat!

 

Amanda Schwoeppe

3rd and 4th grade teacher

Mrs. Amanda Schwoeppe has been a teacher for 15 years. She is currently the 3rd and 4th grade teacher for St. Ignatius Catholic Grade School, where she has been teaching for 6 years. Mrs. Schwoeppe is a local girl; she grew up in Marthasville and attended St. Ignatius School. She earned her teaching degrees from Southeast Missouri State University, in Cape Girardeau, and Lindenwood University in St. Charles. Her degrees include Elementary Education for 1st through 6th grade, and Special Education for Kindergarten through 12th grade. Mrs. Schwoeppe currently lives in Concord Hill with her husband, Dave and their 3 children, Kaylee, Drew, and Mason. She said that her favorite thing to do is spend time with her family and friends. But finding time to play could be a challenge, since the fields behind St. Ignatius Church and School are part of the 1000 acres that her husband farms. Mrs. Schwoeppe explains that her family has deep roots here. Her mother and her grandfather also grew up in the area and went to St. Ignatius. That makes Mrs. Schwoeppe a 3rd generation graduate of St. Ignatius School.

 

Britinie Prosser

5th and 6th grade

Mrs. Britinie Prosser is the 5th and 6th grade teacher. She is new to St. Ignatius Catholic School for the 2017/2018 school year, but she has been in education for 20 years. She has taught everything from Pre-School to High School, with a Master’s degree in Education as well as Counseling. She has teaching experience with homebound students, the public sector, private sector, and as a reading specialist. Mrs. Prosser is certified in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Special Education. She is currently teaching Geography, Reading, Language Arts and Religion to the students of St. Ignatius.

 

Hanna Glastetter

7th and 8th grade

Ms. Hanna Glastetter is one of our new teachers at St. Ignatius Catholic School, just beginning her teaching career in the 2017/2018 school year. Ms. Glastetter is teaching 7th and 8th grade English, History, Reading and Religion, in addition to 5th and 6th grade Math. She said she loves helping her students discover new things and loves seeing all they can accomplish. If you look around her classroom, you may notice a lot of purple, a great color to enhance learning, and it just happens to be her favorite color. Ms. Glastetter says that in addition to teaching she also enjoys sports, especially playing volleyball. Ms. Glastetter grew up in Washington, Missouri and attended St. Francis Borgia School. She got her teaching degree in Middle School Education at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri. Ms. Glastetter currently lives in Concord Hill and although she is a new teacher at St. Ignatius, her family has a deep history here. She explains, “My dad and his family grew up in Concord Hill. They attended St. Ignatius School. They used to live in the house by the old convent and walk to school every day.”

 

Linda Jo Huber

Computer Teacher

Mrs. Linda Jo Huber is the Computer Teacher for St. Ignatius Catholic School. Mrs. Huber attended Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Web Design and Internet Media, plus a Master of Science degree in Elementary Education. Mrs. Huber grew up in Southwest Missouri and currently lives in Washington, Missouri with her husband, Don, and their dogs Shawnee and Montauk. She says she enjoys gardening and creating artwork as well as traveling with her husband. Some of their travels take them to small towns, some ghost towns, and sometimes old cemeteries where they document and photograph their findings. Mrs. Huber often uses those photos as inspiration for her artwork. In addition to her art and traveling, Mrs. Huber and her husband are a well-known and loved musical duo called the Bluegill Buddies, who use banjo, guitar and mandolin to perform old-time music. They can be seen at farmers’ markets, coffee shops, and festivals throughout Missouri and even into Arkansas.”

 

Kelly Schickler

School Cook

Mrs. Kelly Schickler is the Cook for St. Ignatius Catholic Grade School. As the cook, her job includes making the menus for the lunches, being sure to include a mix of healthy foods to appeal to as many students as possible. She plans the meals and orders all the food she will need, incorporates any donations that come in, and cooks and serves lunches every school day. She said she loves serving the food to the students and always tries to make the lunchroom a friendly place. Mrs. Schickler grew up in California, Kansas and Missouri. She currently lives in Washington, Missouri, with her husband, Tom, and 3 of their 7 children. In addition to being the cook for St. Ignatius, Mrs. Schickler is also a beautician. She said she loves being in nature, where she can worship God, and appreciate His beauty. “I love Jesus with all my heart,” she said. Mrs. Schickler said that when she was a teenager she had quite an adventure when she traveled to Canada with a singing group. And what is the favorite food of our cook? That would be apples with peanut butter or almond butter.

 

Dede Kavanagh

Assistant School Cook

Mrs. DeDe Kavanagh is the Assistant Cook for St. Ignatius Grade School. She helps prepare the food and then serves the lunches to the students. She said she enjoys working in the cafeteria because she loves seeing the smiling faces of the students. Mrs. Kavanagh grew up in New Melle, Missouri, and went to Daniel Boone Grade School. She currently lives in Marthasville, with her husband and son. Mrs. Kavanagh is a familiar face around St. Ignatius, not only because she helps out in many ways at the school, but she is our former church secretary. She says that her favorite food is seafood, especially lobster and crab. She also loves sports, being outdoors, and Hawaii. But her most favorite thing of all is spending time with her family.
